Welcome: Learn a little more about the Family Crisis Center

December 3, 2008

Twenty years ago, family violence was rarely a topic of conversation. It was considered a private, family matter and that’s where most people chose to keep it. There was no legal recourse or protection. Millions across the United States endured the physical and psychological pain of being abused by the one they loved. The Family Crisis Center of Baltimore County, Inc. was created to address this issue and to meet the needs of all family members involved.

The Family Crisis Center of Baltimore County, Inc. is a mosaic of essential services and programs, which include a safe shelter; individuals, couples, and family counselling directed toward the prevention, intervention, and treatment of conflictual or violent relationships between family and or household members, new behavior groups for abusers and victims, an advocacy program for victims of relationship violence and Hotline services for Baltimore County and area residents.

Our programs help those experiencing family violence to break the cycle of violence and become more independent. All services are provided on a sliding scale basis, keeping the needs of the client in focus.

Our agency has continued to grow in response to the diverse needs of individuals experiencing violence. We have worked to educate the community in an attempt to eliminate the damaging myths associated with family violence. We have worked with legislature to provide legal protection and funding for expansion of services. And we have worked with other professionals to further the importance of eliminating family violence in our country.

But most importantly of all, we have brought hope and a new way of life to hundreds of families in Baltimore County, and we look forward to a bright future, when families no longer live in fear.
